Nepali MP Rana calls for ethical use of AI

Gorakhpur: Nepal’s MP Sandeep Rana said AI is reshaping global competition, education and entrepreneurship by removing traditional barriers such as geography and limited resources. But he warned against new concerns such as data privacy, misinformation and changing employment patterns, and urged young people to adopt ethical and responsible uses of technology.“Young entrepreneurs and leaders need to connect AI with human values ​​and social justice so that technology can serve humanity. Ultimately, the future of AI depends on the decisions we make today, and together we can build a responsible and humane technological era,” he said while speaking at the Global Artificial Intelligence Confluence-2026 at Guru Gorakshnath Shodh Peeth, which concluded on Saturday.The event brought together students, professionals, and policy makers to discuss the evolving role of artificial intelligence.The event was jointly sponsored by World Organization of Students and Youth (WOSY), Mehta and Dean Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University. Around 180 students of foreign origin studying in various educational institutions across India participated in the confluence.The program featured six sessions over two days, covering topics such as AI startups, accessibility, education, culture, and entrepreneurship. Experts discussed both opportunities and challenges related to artificial intelligence, including innovation, global competition, data privacy, and misinformation.Prominent speakers included Deoria MP Shashank Mani Tripathi, IIIT Lucknow Director Arun Mohan Sherry, Intel India AI SOC Lead Dr Manish Pandey, and several academics and industry experts.
