Astana, Kazakhstan, March 18th. Kazakhstan plans to actively introduce artificial intelligence technology in its law enforcement sector as part of the implementation of the latest constitution, Interior Minister Erzhan Sadenov said at a government meeting, according to a trend report through Kazakhstan’s government news agency.
The Minister noted that key initiatives include the launch of a national video surveillance system, the technological modernization of police forces down to the district level, the use of video analytics, further development of road safety and migration management systems, and improving the accessibility and quality of public services.
According to him, the principles of “just Kazakhstan” and “law and order” enshrined in the Preamble and Article 1 of the Constitution serve as important guidelines for internal organs in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, ensuring public safety and preventing crime.
The implementation of these principles will be supported by a new law called the “Law on the Prevention of Crime”. Sadenov said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs annually prepares a national report on the security situation and submits it to the government to the president.
Efforts will also continue to ensure the necessity of punishment and the absolute tolerance of law violations.
A national referendum on the adoption of a new constitution was held on March 15th. According to official results, 87.15% of voters supported the proposal.
