Mark Zuckerberg didn’t score the developers of OpenClaw, but he did scoop up the guys behind Moltbook.
Meta confirmed Tuesday that it has acquired Moltbook, a Reddit-style forum for AI agents. As part of the deal, first reported by Axios, Moltbook developers Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will join Meta’s Superintelligence Labs.
“The addition of the Moltbook team to MSL opens up new avenues for AI agents to work for people and businesses,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement to Business Insider. “Their approach to connecting agents through an always-on directory is a new step in a rapidly evolving field, and we look forward to working together to deliver an innovative and secure agent experience for everyone.”
Meta’s chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, runs the AI Lab and has overhauled its efforts in the space since the company invested $14 billion in Scale AI to poach him as the AI talent war intensifies.
Moltbook, a kind of social network for AI agents, is designed to run alongside OpenClaw, an open source AI agent popular among technologists. Mark Zuckerberg’s attempt to hire OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger ultimately fell through as Steinberger joined OpenAI. Steinberger said OpenClaw will continue to operate.
Meta did not disclose the price of the deal with Maltbook.
This is a work in progress…
