Samsung’s internal research revealed that the majority of users (nearly 8 out of 10) use two or more AI agents on a regular basis. The company is working on improving Galaxy AI for the future of AI. By adding multi-agent support, Samsung makes the experience of working with multiple AIs smoother.
The improved Galaxy AI integrates an AI agent at the OS level. This allows Samsung to seamlessly integrate new AI agents in a manner consistent with the familiar Galaxy experience and stay ahead of the rapidly evolving AI field.
Integration happens at the system level, so you can control different agents without switching apps or repeating commands. This also gives agents the context they need for more natural interactions.
The first new AI agent to join your party is Perplexity. You can summon it by saying “Hey Plex” or by assigning it to the side button (i.e. the power button). This will be included in “upcoming flagship Galaxy devices” and as you probably know, the Galaxy S26 series is just around the corner.
Plex is deeply integrated into Samsung’s first-party apps, including Gallery, Notes, Calendar, Clock, and Reminders. It also works with certain third-party apps. The Plex agent is smart enough to handle multi-step workflows.
According to the press release, “Additional details regarding supported devices and experiences will be announced soon.” If I had to guess, the One UI 8.5 update will enable (some or all) of these features on older Galaxy S and Galaxy Z models.
