<span>Story: Bytedance takes steps to prevent intellectual property abuse in new AI video generator.</span><span>The Chinese company made the announcement on Monday (February 16) following legal threats from US studios including Disney.</span><span>Seedance 2.0 was released last week, and videos made with it have gone viral in China.</span><span>This AI model is praised for its ability to generate cinematic stories with just a few prompts.</span><span>But sources told Reuters that Disney had sent a cease-and-desist letter to ByteDance.</span><span>They said the US giant accused the Chinese company of using Disney characters to train and power Seadance without permission.</span><span>ByteDance said it is working to improve current safeguards against the unauthorized use of its intellectual property, but did not explain what steps it is taking.</span><span>Variety reported that Paramount Skydance also sent a cease and desist letter to ByteDance.</span><span>The company reportedly accused the Chinese company of “blatant infringement” of its intellectual property.</span><span>Disney’s move comes months after it signed a licensing agreement with OpenAI.</span><span>This will allow the startup to use characters from Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel series in its Sora video generator.</span>
