Deadmau5 has slammed an anonymous artist who allegedly used his likeness in a movie. AI generated Videos to promote your music.
Canadian DJ Instagram Yesterday (February 11), he said he discovered the artist’s Instagram story. It depicted him “standing there promoting himself and his music.”
The fake video, which he also shared a screenshot of, shows Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) without a helmet, allegedly endorsing the artist’s music.

“It finally happened,” Zimmerman wrote in a scathing statement. “Welcome to that dystopian future we dreamed of only three years ago.”
Zimmerman redacted the artist’s name but said the video was “fully generated by AI” to use his likeness and voice. “[The] “The voice wasn’t exactly 100%, but it was pretty convincing,” he wrote.
“It’s really scary, and I’m sure this is just the beginning of untalented bastards abusing this technology to further develop themselves while violating the rights of others in the worst possible ways.”

He added: “We’re all going to see more of this. AI is fucking great, generative AI is not so great. But we need to stop idiots like this from abusing AI.”
talk to signboardZimmerman said his lawyers are working on a NO FAKES law in the United States to “create real protections against deepfakes that use our images and voices to deceive our fans.”
The new law, to be introduced in parliament in 2025, aims to prevent the “unauthorized” use of images and likenesses of people, including those who have passed away.
