TikTok’s parent company ByteDance announced a pre-release version of its new artificial intelligence video model “Seedance 2.0”, triggering a rise in the stock prices of several Chinese AI and entertainment companies. The company says Seedance 2.0 is designed to be a “true” multimodal AI creator, allowing users to combine images, video, audio, and text to produce what ByteDance describes as “cinematic content” with “accurate referencing capabilities, seamless video enhancements, and natural language control.”

Silicon Republic reports that the model is currently available to some users on ByteDance’s AI video platform, Jimeng AI. According to information published on ByteDance’s website, SeaDance 2.0 supports 2K video export and delivers approximately 30% faster production speed than its previous version, SeaDance 1.5.

Swiss-based consultancy CTOL described the new model as “the most advanced AI video generation model available” and said it “outperformed OpenAI’s Sora 2 and Google’s Veo 3.1 in practical tests.”

One of the model’s standout features is what ByteDance calls “multi-lens storytelling,” CNBC explains. A single prompt can be expanded into multiple connected scenes while the AI maintains consistent character, lighting, and tone throughout. This greatly reduces the need for manual editing and stitching in post-production software.

Seedance 2.0 is already very popular and gaining attention online as highly produced, AI-generated videos circulate on social platforms. Here are some clips.

According to CNBC, ByteDance’s official documentation states that this model produces 2K video approximately 30% faster than competitors such as Kling. The system also supports multiple input formats, including text, still images, short video clips, and audio, giving creators more flexibility in how they start their projects.

The announcement appears to have increased investor optimism about China’s AI and media sectors. Publisher COL Group Co. hit 20% of the daily price limit, while Shanghai Film Co. and gaming and entertainment company Perfect World Co. both rose about 10%, Silicon Republic noted, according to data compiled by Bloomberg on Feb. 9.
