Brightcove charts new direction with AI-driven video strategy

Following last year’s acquisition by Bending Spoons, Brightcove announced its strategic roadmap to 2026 and began its first full innovation cycle under new ownership. The company is betting big on artificial intelligence to better compete in the crowded streaming infrastructure market.

Parallel efforts include a major overhaul of the underlying Video Cloud platform. The management team plans to redesign the user interface across all modules with the aim of reducing the complexity of client operations. Tech upgrades to our playback software are also underway, including the introduction of “liquid glass” support for the iOS and tvOS developer kits. These updates, coupled with a redesign of our mobile and web players, aim to increase audience engagement and improve technical reliability.

Strategic focus on AI and automation

The revamped strategy focuses on two pillars: AI innovation and quality of user experience. The goal is to evolve the platform into a more intelligent environment for video engagement by providing media companies and enterprises with tools to automate time-consuming routine tasks.

The basis of this approach is a new AI-powered system for captioning and localization. The technology supports speaker identification and over 90 languages, with a particular focus on Scandinavian languages, Te Reo Māori and Urdu. Additionally, Brightcove is introducing AI-driven accessibility tools designed to help customers comply with global standards such as the European Accessibility Act.

The streaming infrastructure space continues to expand. A recent industry report estimates that the global market for live streaming solutions will reach approximately $22 billion this year, with a compound annual growth rate of 18.34% through 2032.

Brightcove aims to capture this growth by leveraging automation capabilities such as AI-generated video chapters and real-time social media clips. By integrating AI-enhanced metadata with modern infrastructure, the company is repositioning itself to meet the growing global demand for efficient content management solutions.
