Lala Roomer defended US President Donald Trump after backlash over a video of Barack and Michelle Obama depicting him as a monkey. Loomer said in a post on X that other Republicans and Democrats are also portrayed as Lion King-like characters, and that Trump is a lion and the king of the jungle.“Barack Obama’s entire ‘monkey video’ depicts numerous Republican and Democratic elected officials as Lion King-like figures, and Mr. Trump is the lion and king of the jungle. It’s interesting how this fact is not reported,” she said. An AI-generated video posted to X in October 2025 depicted several prominent Democrats as animals prostrate before Trump. The entire video features President Joe Biden as a baboon, Vice President Kamala Harris as a turtle, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as a zebra, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries as a meerkat, and members of Congress as meerkats. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez played a donkey, New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani played a hyena, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton played a warthog. The video sparked widespread backlash after it was shared by President Trump. Content creator Xelius later claimed responsibility for the original clip.Since then, the White House has also come to support Trump. Spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said the outrage over the “racist” video stemmed from internet meme videos and was fake. Levitt said the meme video depicts President Trump as the king of the jungle and Democrats as characters from “The Lion King.” “Stop the false outrage and start reporting on what actually matters to the American people today,” Levitt said in a statement to Newsweek.
