Retail technology company Swiftly has introduced SmartCircular, an artificial intelligence product that transforms weekly grocery PDFs into interactive, measurable digital content.

The company says the system converts static promotional flyers into clickable layouts that allow shoppers to view deals, enlarge product images, and add items to their shopping list.

It also collects engagement data, allowing retailers to see which offers are influencing travel plans and more quickly modify promotions to suit merchandising needs.

He pointed to research suggesting that 70% of grocery shoppers now expect digital promotions to be personalized, even though most existing circulars are generic and difficult to link to performance results.

SmartCircular incorporates promotional information at the Universal Product Code (UPC) level, allowing customers to view all eligible SKUs and select a specific pack size or flavor.

The platform also aims to reduce retailers’ dependence on third-party circular suppliers by simplifying the production and maintenance of digital versions.

When deployed alongside Swiftly’s Audience Optimiser, this new tool forms part of a connected workflow that connects promotions with digital media activation and measurement.

Retailers publish offers through SmartCircular, shoppers interact with them, and Audience Optimiser then uses those signals to drive targeted on-site and off-site media linked to the same promotions.

Swiftley said the goal of the integrated approach is to link promotional efforts to measurable results and improve campaign performance over time.
