Full Fact, the UK’s largest fact-checking charity, has exposed two viral videos as misinformation. Some falsely claim to be conducting anti-government demonstrations in Iran. The other appears to be a British MP addressing the House of Commons. Both videos reached millions of viewers across social media platforms.

The first video went viral on X and Instagram, garnering over 20,000 reactions and over 1 million views in a single post. The video shows Iranian protesters clashing with authorities. Full Fact traced the footage to its actual origin in Thessaloniki in northern Greece.

Video wire service Newsflare confirmed the location. Footage shows violent clashes between hooded youths and police after a large anti-establishment rap concert in the early hours of November 2nd. A Greek-based Instagram account shared high-quality footage of the Thessaloniki event on the same day.

AI-generated House of Representatives

The second video went even further, reaching millions of views across multiple platforms. It shows what appears to be a male MP in a delivery box, MPs sitting on green benches and a man wearing chains sitting in the speaker’s chair.

The AI-generated person asks: “If the United States can carry out an operation that captures the elected president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and puts him on trial in a U.S. court, why is it impossible to capture Benjamin Netanyahu from Israel and bring him before an international tribunal?”
