IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the innovation hub of IIT Madras, has started accepting admissions for the second batch of Advanced Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. This program is aimed at practicing professionals who want to build industry-ready AI solutions and apply data-driven decision-making at scale.
The seven-month program is designed to help learners develop a strong foundation in applied artificial intelligence and deep learning, with a focus on building production-ready models.
This addresses the growing shift from deep learning experimentation to real-world deployment across sectors such as retail, banking and financial services, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and government, where organizations are increasingly relying on AI to predict, automate, and optimize.
This course is delivered as a LIVE online program in collaboration with TimesPro. Participants will receive training in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical methods, along with hands-on experience in Python-based data analysis.
The curriculum includes hands-on learning of tools like TensorFlow and PyTorch, as well as covering the fundamentals of MLOps and cybersecurity through case-based learning and applied projects.
The growing demand for AI skills is reflected in recent industry reports. According to McKinsey's State of AI survey, 88% of respondents now regularly use AI in at least one business function, up from 78% last year.
A United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report predicts that the global AI market will grow from USD 189 billion in 2023 to USD 4.8 trillion by 2033. In India, Fortune Business Insights forecasts that the AI market is expected to grow from USD 13.05 billion in 2025 to USD 130.63 billion by 2032.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Suchitra Veeravalli, Consultant, IITM Pravartak said, “Applied AI now requires engineers who can move from models to measurable values.Through this advanced certificate, IITM Pravartak combines the research strengths of IIT Madras with hands-on training in machine learning, deep learning, and MLOps. After completing the program, participants can explore roles such as data scientist, machine learning engineer, data analyst, AI/ML research scientist, business intelligence analyst, data engineer, deep learning engineer, quantitative analyst, and more.
The first group included participants from sectors such as automotive, banking, software, education, healthcare, and research, as well as senior professionals such as CTOs, directors, solution architects, and technology leaders.
The program is aimed at graduates and postgraduates in engineering, mathematics and computational science, as well as working adults looking to move into AI-focused roles. It follows a Direct-to-Digital format with interactive online sessions led by IIT Madras faculty and industry experts, and also includes assignments, webinars, and on-campus experiences at IIT Madras Research Park. Successful candidates will receive a certificate of completion from IITM Pravartak, the technology innovation hub of IIT Madras.
