Bruno Mars releases retro-styled 'I Just Might' video, announces next album 'The Romantic'
Bruno Mars has released a new music video for his latest single “I Just Mite,” his first solo release in years. This song will be the lead single from his upcoming album. romantic” is scheduled to be released on February 27th.
The video, shared on YouTube, shows Mars playing different versions of himself while performing in a retro-inspired wood paneled environment. The entire visual shows him singing and playing several instruments including drums, bongos, bass, and guitar, reinforcing the 1970s R&B and disco influences that have characterized much of his recent work. The concept escalates as additional versions of Mars appear on screen, culminating in one version of the performance filmed.
According to Paste, “I Just Might” continues Mars' long-standing tendency to explore different musical eras rather than completely changing genres. In a previous project I had something like this, 24k magic Leaning towards an early 1990s aesthetic, Silk Sonic paid homage to 1970s soul, and this new single remains firmly in the realm of the latter style.
The song marks Mars' first solo single since a series of high-profile collaborations and chart successes, including “Die With A Smile” and “APT.” His next album will be his first full-length solo project in nearly a decade.
In addition to releasing the album, Mars has embarked on a major solo stadium tour across North America and Europe. Paste reports that the tour will run from April to October and will feature opening performances by Anderson .Paak's DJ Pee Wee Project, Leon Thomas, Ray and Victoria Mone.
