Privacy professionals, mark your calendars — January 28th is coming up, and it's going to be a very exciting day.
Data Privacy Day is celebrated all over the world, but this year IAPP volunteers in Canada are taking it to the next level. For the first time, we are hosting a truly pan-Canadian KnowledgeNet event, bringing together privacy experts from across Canada. And we're not just talking about a few Zoom squares on your screen. This is an in-person celebration with a national twist.
Here's the idea. One dynamic panel discussion will be streamed simultaneously to local chapters across the country. That means you can be part of the same conversation at the same time, whether you're in Vancouver, Victoria, Regina, Waterloo, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, St. John's, or anywhere in between. This is like a privacy super connector, and you're invited too.

What is the theme? Beyond Chaos: Practical Application of AI Governance.
AI is everywhere, and so are the questions about how to manage it responsibly. Our expert panel tackles tough challenges like balancing innovation and risk, implementing governance frameworks that actually work, and sharing practical strategies you can take back to your organization. No frills, just practical insights from some of the best minds in the field.
And we know that privacy professionals love a fun discussion, so the learning doesn't stop when the panel ends. Each regional chapter will host an interactive conversation to dig deeper into what has been shared. It's a chance to exchange ideas, discuss approaches and discover new ways to move forward together. Plus, all of these key points will be compiled into a handy resource that you can use even after the event.
- This is a meaningful way to celebrate Data Privacy Day.
- Earn continuing education credits — hello, CPE.
- Connect directly with peers who are interested in the same issues as you.
- And yes, there's food too. Thank you to Deloitte for generously hosting and enriching the conversation.
And there's a bonus reason for this. The panel will be moderated by nNovation attorney and longtime privacy expert Constantine Karbaliotis. Anyone who knows Konstantin knows that the meaningful, practical advice he gives comes with an equal amount of humor. By humor we mean real cringy dad jokes that will make you groan and laugh at the same time. If you've ever wondered what AI governance and dad jokes have in common, this is your chance to find out.
So whether you're interested in AI governance, passionate about professional development, or just want to get up from behind your laptop and talk about privacy face-to-face, this is the event for you.
January 28th 1 panel. One country. Countless conversations. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a truly unique movement in Canada's privacy community.
