As the power of artificial intelligence (AI) tools rapidly advances, an increasing number of Americans say they use the technology at work.
A Pew Research Center survey conducted in September found that 21% of U.S. workers now say at least some of their jobs are performed by AI. This percentage is up from 16% about a year ago.
Most U.S. workers (65%) still say they use AI very little or not at all at work.

Meanwhile, the percentage of workers who say they have never heard or read about the use of AI in the workplace decreased from 17% to 12%.
Workers under the age of 50 and those with a bachelor's degree or higher education are among those most likely to use AI at work. In fact, the rise in the use of AI in the workplace over the past year has been largely driven by the latter group.
The percentage of employees with at least a bachelor's degree who say at least some of their work is done with AI increased from 20% to 28%. This compares with a smaller (but statistically significant) increase from 13% to 16% among workers with some college education or less.

An additional 46% of these non-AI users say their job can't be done much or at all with AI, similar to the 45% who said so last year.
