California Governor Gavin Newsom once again ransacked the White House this “handcuffs” season by releasing an AI-generated video of President Donald Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and others in handcuffs.
Cuffing season is a term used to describe the desire to form a romantic relationship during the colder months of fall and winter. In response, Newsom posted his own video about cuff season to X on Wednesday, this time with the Trump administration's hands tied behind his back. Newsom also used SZA's song as an AI-generated scene of Trump, Hegseth and Miller crying while handcuffed.
SZA used her song in the video to speak out against the Trump administration, writing on X Wednesday, “It's peak dark for the White House to infuriate artists with free promotion…inhumane + shocking and awful tactics…evil and boring.”
Newsom has been trolling President Trump online for months for opposing the president's policies, including the ICE raid in California. In June, President Trump bypassed Newsom and sent the National Guard to Los Angeles to quell anti-ICE protesters.
The California governor also criticized Miller, known as the architect of President Trump's hard-line immigration policies, in a recent interview with political commentator Jack Cocchiarella, saying, “I think he has a brutality.”
Hegseth has also been in the news recently after U.S. forces reportedly attacked suspected drug ships in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean, killing more than 80 people.
