Brightcove Announces AI Translation, Metadata, and Live Video Tools

AI Video & Visuals

Brightcove has released a series of new features aimed at expanding artificial intelligence capabilities, improving live streaming quality, and enhancing video engagement tools. These additions come as the company rolls out the next phase of its product roadmap, with hundreds of customers already trying out the latest features.

language localization

The latest update includes a universal translator that allows users to localize video content into over 50 languages within the platform.

This tool allows you to refine the transcript generated by artificial intelligence before you start translating it. It also offers various options for dubbed audio, including fully synthesized voices and voices modeled after the original speakers.

The company says this will enable organizations to quickly deliver multilingual content to audiences around the world.

Efficient captioning

Enhancements to automatic captioning functionality are also included in the update. This feature, which supports over 250 customers, now provides more accurate and natural-looking captions. New custom dictionaries allow organizations to set specific rules for how brand names, products, acronyms, and sensitive terms appear in captions. This is intended to reduce editing time and improve brand consistency across video output.

Metadata automation

Brightcove’s new Metadata Optimizer tool is designed to streamline your workflow by automatically generating and transforming metadata across your video catalog. This is done using audio, text, and visual analysis within each video. The tool supports over 40 languages and has customized tagging options, aiming to improve search engine optimization and overall discoverability. The company says customer input has incorporated visual analytics to improve the accuracy of the output.

mobile experience

The introduction of vertical video templates targets the growing trend of mobile video consumption. This new gallery allows organizations to host vertical, swipeable video feeds on their websites, recreating the user experience popularized on social platforms. Brightcove suggests that this will allow the media, sports, and entertainment industries to better engage younger and mobile-first audiences.

Live streaming upgrade

An upgrade to the NextGen Live platform was also announced.

They now support 4K Ultra High Definition streaming and low-latency delivery with just 8 seconds of delay. The service already supports live events with over 200,000 concurrent viewers. Live streaming, server-side ad insertion, and digital rights management are now integrated within a single workflow. This is intended to improve both content security and monetization options for customers broadcasting live events.

product roadmap

Brightcove has indicated that further features are in development. Planned additions include an AI-powered Content Multiplier, a native recommendation engine that provides real-time content suggestions, new interactivity options, and an updated user interface and experience. These enhancements are expected to continue the company’s focus on reach, engagement, and ease of use for content creators and broadcasters.

Scott Levine, Brightcove’s chief product officer, said: “These advancements are the result of direct feedback from our customers who want more control, better automation and an improved video experience for their viewers.”
