This could be an interesting addition to Threads if it comes out of beta testing and actually comes to life in the app.
According to a new discovery by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, Threads is working on a new AI-powered interaction summary that will be overlaid on a user’s profile when they visit it, giving a quick overview of past interactions with a particular user.

In other words, it’s similar to a Gmail message summary, but in a threaded format, with a summary of past interactions and notes about related interests and more.
This could encourage further discussion within the app, but perhaps the same AI overview could be provided for any profile, whether or not you’ve engaged with it before, providing an overview of who the person/profile is, what they’re posting, what notable interests are relevant to each visitor, etc.
X already has a similar feature, where X Premium users have access to the “Details for this account” option, which shows a Grok-generated summary of that user so you can decide whether to follow them or not.

In reality, Threads is just replicating this functionality from X, but given that X is a major competitor and Meta has its own AI tools that can provide such functionality, it makes sense for Threads to work with the same functionality.
But does this also take away from the fun of discovery, as it provides an up-to-date overview for instant reference, as opposed to reading past posts to understand your interests?
While it doesn’t seem to be much of a concern, especially in the context of conversation history, reducing everyone to a few AI-generated talking points can cause users to stop following, especially if they’re not very engaged.
I don’t know if that really matters, that’s another consideration, but again, to be clear, Threads hasn’t made any official announcement about this feature yet, so it’s all speculation at this point.
Another side benefit is that it can act as a deterrent to keep trolls away.
For example, if you look at the summary and remember that this person posted a critical comment on your past post, you can put it on hold and move on if you wish.
If it’s ever added to the main app, it might be added to the Threads experience.
