In modern social networks, content created with the help of artificial intelligence is increasingly appearing, and there is also the initiative of diVine, backed by Jack Dorsey, aimed at reviving Vine.
The new diVine program provides access to over 100,000 archived Vine videos restored from backups created before the end of service.
Users will be able to create a profile and upload their own new Vine videos. However, unlike many platforms where content is not labeled as AI-generated, diVine detects such content and prohibits publication.

Funding for diVine is provided by “and Other Stuff,” a nonprofit organization founded by Jack Dorsey in May 2025. The new project focuses on funding experimental open initiatives and other tools that have the potential to change the social media landscape.
To build diVine, Evan Henshaw-Platt, a former Twitter employee and member of “and Other Stuff,” researched Vine archives. After Twitter announced the closure of Vine in 2016, his videos were archived by Archive Team, a community that preserves web resources at risk of disappearing. This effort is not affiliated with Archive.org.
Although we weren’t able to retrieve all the videos, we recovered a significant portion of Vine and user profiles, giving each person a new profile on this open network.
DiVine is built on the Nostr protocol, an open standard that allows developers to create their own apps and services and run their own nodes, relays, and media servers. Technology from the Guardian Project, a nonprofit civil rights organization, is used to verify that new uploads are created by people.
According to Jack Dorsey, diVine is built on Nostr, opening the door to a new generation of apps without the need for venture funding, toxic business models, or large engineering teams.
Twitter/X owner Elon Musk has also expressed a desire to bring back Vine, saying in August that old video archives were discovered. There is currently no official release. Dorsey-backed DiVine believes this use is legal because archival content and creator rights are preserved.
