A wave of AI-generated videos aimed at demoralizing Ukrainian society and calling for peace at all costs is being rolled out on TikTok.
According to Ukrinform, the Center for Combating Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.
“A video asking ‘ordinary Ukrainians’ on the street for their opinion on war, mobilization and peace negotiations has gone viral on TikTok. These clips, created with the help of AI, have a uniform visual style and depict survey participants expressing only pessimistic messages.
The main trends of these videos and their purpose
As mentioned above, the protagonists of these clips oppose mobilization, argue that war is pointless, accuse the authorities of “derailing peace,” and push the idea that the return of occupied territory is unnecessary.
The main feature of such clips is that they are completely generated by artificial intelligence, as confirmed by deepfake detection services. This is another example of Russia using AI technology in its information warfare against Ukraine.
The Anti-Disinformation Center emphasizes that the purpose of these videos is to demoralize Ukrainian society and reduce resistance by promoting a narrative of “peace at all costs.”
Russia is increasingly relying on artificial intelligence operations to become a source of new information threats, according to the Center for Combating Disinformation.
