Openai has announced plans to deploy new controls that allow content owners to specify how their characters are used in the AI video app SORA.
The creators of ChatGpt will support rights protection, as well as implement monetization plans and share revenue with those who allow such use.
According to CEO Sam Altman, the AI company is equipped with rights holders to “have more control over the generation of characters.” The copyright holder is permitted to block the use of the character.
Earlier this week, Openai launched SORA to generate AI-based videos for up to 10 seconds. Initially, the app is available in Canada and the US.
The SORA app allows users to create and share AI videos based on copyrighted content that can be shared on streams like social media.
In the revenue model, copyright holders who sign up for characters and make them available to SORA users in the video will be awarded a share of revenue.
According to Altman, the revenue sharing framework “will require trial and error, but I said that implementations will soon begin when Openai intends to test the various approaches within SORA.”
