Meta launches AI video feed vibe, but users call it “infinite slops.”

Behind the scenes, Meta has partnered with German startup Blackforestrabo to provide the atmosphere. According to the financial filing, Meta has signed a contract worth more than $140 million, including $35 million this year, and the next $105 million. Sifted also reported on the agreement. This highlights how the meta relies on external providers for some of its generative AI stack.

The timing of the launch reflects the meta-changing AI strategy. In June, the company merged its research group into Meta Superintelligence Labs following the departure of senior staff. Later in July, Reuters reported that Meta had appointed ChatGpt co-creator as Chief Scientist to lead long-term research in the department. Generating nearly $165 billion in revenue last year, Meta is currently driving new growth in products such as vibrators, inter-image advertising tools and smart glasses.

Privacy and mitigation risks remain a concern. TechCrunch and others have previously documented how Meta's AI-powered Feed Feed exposes personal interactions, raising questions about how synthetic video is monitored. Blurred ownership and credibility make critics even more difficult to rule out misleading or harmful content.

By launching vibes as part of creative experiments and its extensive AI push, Meta is betting on synthetic content that is central to its ecosystem. Whether users accept it or continue to dismiss it as an “infinite slop” may determine how quickly a company can turn the vibe into a permanent part of its platform strategy.
