Deloitte has introduced new artificial intelligence capabilities within its global cloud-based Omnia audit and assurance platform designed to enhance the audit process.

New capabilities integrate generative and agent AI technologies to streamline auditing and increase efficiency.

François Lamontagne, audit and assurance leader for Deloitte Caribbean and Bermuda, said the enhancement reflects the increasing complexity of the digital business.

“We understand the robust scope and monitoring required when our clients and the business environment they operate are leveraging more and more digital processes and data,” he said.

“Our audit practices recognize the optimized benefits of investing in audit technology, and help to incorporate AI tools and promote quality into continuous promoted services.”

Among the new generative features are tools to review audit documents for clarity and consistency, which can help with the navigation of financial statements, extract and summarise data across documents, provide audit-related communications and note drafts, faster answers to complex research questions, and flag potential risk events using external data sources.

Deloitte Caribbean and Bermuda audit innovation leader Laurie Melnett said the technology will continue to reshape the profession.

“Change is at the heart of audit innovation. Omnia's platform is adopting a new era, providing people with tools to support generative AI modules and to serve their clients best,” she said.

Looking ahead, Deloitte said it is integrating intelligent AI agents into Omnia. These digital specialists can complete tasks, remember relevant information, and work with other agents as part of an interconnected system.

“We've seen a lot of experience in our work and our customers,” said Anna Burns, Audit and Assurance Leader at Deloitte Bermuda. “AI integration enhances the way data is analyzed and interpreted, allowing us to focus on providing deeper insights and trend analyses that will enhance the quality of audit committee interactions.”

According to the company, all developments are in line with Deloitte's trustworthy AI framework to ensure governance, compliance and client trust.

Started in 2015, Omnia is at the heart of Deloitte's global audit innovation strategy. Last year, the platform won its first AI Innovation Initiative of the Year award at the International Accounting Forum and Awards.

Today, nearly 85,000 Deloitte Audit and Assurance Practitioners use platforms all over the world, supported by dedicated, large-scale language models and chatbots. The company reported that over 3 million AI prompts would be run in the first year.

Deloitte recently launched its Global Agents Network, offering a suite of AI agents designed to help clients expand their technology adoption.
