IONQ and D-Wave are committed to integrating traditional computing in quantum technology.

Nvidia bridges the gaps to create a hybrid quantum computing approach.
While artificial intelligence (AI) investments remain a major factor in today's market, quantum computing investments could become mainstream in 2030. However, investors do not need to invest in one of them. Some of the pure plays of quantum computing are dabbled in both spaces. This could open up significant investment opportunities over the next few years and provide returns that will crush the shareholder market.
The criterion they are judged is whether they are superior to traditional large tech companies as they have long led the market to new heights. Plus some of them are like that alphabet(NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: Google) and Microsoft(NASDAQ: MSFT)alongside AI buildouts, they are also competing in quantum computing arm races.

IONQ and D-WAVE quantum
Aeon Q(NYSE: IONQ) and D-wave quantum(NYSE: QBTS) Two of my favorite pure plays of quantum computing. Each has a unique approach to the quantum computing industry, and if new solutions work, they could potentially lift their feet.
IONQ utilizes a confined ion approach with several important advantages over the more popular superconducting approach. Rather than having to cool particles to almost absolutely zero, a trapped ion computer can perform tasks at room temperature. This reduces input costs and makes deployment easier. Furthermore, trapped ion calculations are much more accurate than the current superconductivity calculations. IONQ holds multiple world records for the most accurate quantum computers, which could potentially be the top pick by potential clients.
D-Wave Quantum uses a quantum annealing approach that is not intended for widespread use such as trapped ions and superconducting quantum computers. Instead, it works by finding the lowest energy state within the system that represents the optimal solution. This makes it ideal for tasks such as statistics and logistics networks that represent large-scale use cases in quantum computing.
Each company is also considering deploying AI solutions. IONQ researchers have used several existing large-scale language models and improved them by incorporating quantum computing. This reduced energy costs and provided a better model. D-Wave Quantum is also involved in integrating quantum computing applications with AI, with a particular focus on applications where pre-trained AI can help businesses and researchers.
The companies are approaching integration with quantum computing in a hybrid approach. This includes using quantum computers to enhance what traditional computers already do. Today, the king of traditional AI computing is nvidia(NASDAQ: NVDA)and they are also working on the AI realm.
nvidia
Nvidia has not developed quantum processing units to replace graphics processing units (GPUs). Instead, it has evolved popular CUDA software to transform its platform into CUDA-Q, including quantum computing plugins.
This is a smart approach from Nvidia. This allows you to continue focusing on AI arm racing while capturing the benefits of quantum computing. This approach ensures that hybrid computing applications require NVIDIA GPUs, which remains a large part of the use cases for deploying Quantum computing.
Some may argue that Nvidia can be classified as a “traditional” technology company, but I don't think it falls under this category as computing hardware providers are the only ones in the world due to extreme demand. Nvidia has made a lot of money from GPU sales to traditional large tech companies, and I think it's well positioned to deliver on its current environment and future performance if quantum computing could potentially become a commercially viable technology.
