During the Workday Rising 2025 event, Workday launched a new platform for developers: Workday Build. The platform allows customers and partners to develop, share and scale AI solutions. The focus is on people and finance (HR & Finance), but the platform can be used for a wide range of purposes.
“The era of One-Size-Fits-All Enterprise software is over,” said Peter Bailis, CTO at Workday. According to him, SaaS is no longer composed of Record-of-Record applications with a fixed feature set. Future platforms are fully customized using AI. Therefore, Workday's new platform marks the shift in which customers are no longer AI consumers, but using AI to build the technology they need.
Workday Build is based on AI tools for developers that were announced at Workday DevCon 2025 earlier this year. This new platform combines a variety of tools into a single integrated development environment. This allows you to build or customize AI applications and agents.
The new platform consists of several components.
Workday Flose Agent Builder, A low-code tool that allows developers to design and implement AI agents on workdays. These agents range from simple chatbots to complex workflows that use the system's HR and financial data.
AI tools for developers, A set of integrated tools for building apps and agents, including AI-based developer Copilot, and an agent gateway compatible with MCP to increase productivity and communicate with other agents.
Workday data cloud, To provide access to HR and financial data without the need to copy, organizations can provide detailed analysis to connect this information to external data platforms.
Workday Marketplace, A broad ecosystem of validated solutions from Workday itself and partners, focusing on specific industry and geographical markets.
Developer Community, A global network that allows developers to learn, obtain certification and connect within the workday ecosystem.
availability
Workday Flowise Agent Builder will be available to Workday Extend Professional customers in the first half of 2026. WorkdayDataCloud will be generally available in the second half of 2026 and will be available to early adopters first.
The platform is aimed at organizations who want to extend their existing Workday implementations using custom AI capabilities without compromising trustworthy security and governance standards.
