Tomura introduces 4C Salter at Lucai Deep Learning

Tomra has launched the 4C with Lucai, an optical sorting machine designed to improve detection, accuracy, performance, efficiency and flexibility in the NUT and IQF industries.

“Tomra 4C can benefit from many more producers, processors and repackaging companies bring AI, machine learning and deep learning to the food selection industry,” said Harald Henriksen, Executive Vice President and Head of Tomra Foods. “Combined, this technology increases the detection of defects in foreign materials, products and colours, ensuring increased food safety and consistency across batches and shifts due to the use and output of optimized resources.”

The Tomra 4C is the first Tomra machine that allows packers and processors to run multiple forms of artificial intelligence in parallel, including Lucai Deep Learning and traditional machine learning. These are two technologies that provide adaptability and performance for food sorting operations, allowing customers to quickly adapt to changing operational needs and unlock consistency.

“The Tomra 4C now offers serious performance improvements with the ability to achieve false rejection rates of less than 1% (less than 1% for nuts and less than 0.5% for IQF) allowing customers to set new benchmarks for the industry.” “This is possible thanks to the engineering excellence that Tomra is known for combining AI-powered processing and the latest generation of pulsed LED sensors.”

The Tomra 4C is pre-configured and ready to be integrated into a new or existing line.
