Today's generation of learners, categorized as Gen Z and Gen Alpha, processes information and engages in educational content in a fundamentally different way than their predecessors.
This time, another digital native (millennials) will realize and utilize it not only as a supplementary tool, but also as a major and highly effective medium for learning. Maximizing screen time for educating is a preference rooted in a combination of cognitive style, technical immersion, and the inherent benefits of multimedia instructions.
Chrissie Bellosillo, millennial and chief operating officer of education technology company Firstlight, is leading the company's transformation from content providers to storytellers in the digital age. The company leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) Generic Artificial Intelligence (GEN AI) to accelerate the production of high-quality, attractive e-learning videos. This innovation shapes how educational content is created and delivered, making learning more accessible to students across the country and around the world.

“With AWS, we cycled quickly from concept to execution to dramatically improve content production and reduce time frames in just a few months to just weeks, taking into account a lot of time for reviews, testing, validation and revisions,” Belosilo told the Manila Times. “Because we're creating learning, we need to really pay attention to the details of the content and give a lot of attention. We can't misunderstand them.”
This leap in efficiency is more than business metrics. It's a creative breakthrough. Previously, making educational documentaries and short films was a long-lasting process. Reliance on online stock video libraries, which often lacked accurate scenes, required costly and tedious physical shooting or outdated animation methods, severely limiting scalability and speed of content delivery. Sometimes it can take up to two years, so long-term production limits our ability to tell relevant stories in a timely manner.
AWS Gen AI has allowed Firstlight to cut the production timeline for the full-length documentary in just 2 years to just 3 to 3 months. A shorter explanatory video and comprehensive curriculum, once spent weeks developing, can now be produced in a few days. This agility is important in meeting the escalation of global demand for dynamic educational multimedia.
Accessible via Amazon Bedrock, Firstlight, an Advanced Multimodal Foundation model called Amazon Nova Reel, allows you to create photorealistic videos and high-quality animations directly from natural language text prompts or existing materials.
In AWS Cloud Day Philippines 2025, Belosilo described how time-sensitive, but complex global phenomena such as volcanic eruptions and superstorms can be reproduced through immersive, 60-second videos that are rapidly generated to maintain relevance while enhancing student understanding.
“Firstlight amplified the voice of humanity in the age of AI, fostering responsible citizenship, sociocultural sensitivity and sustainability among young learners.
“The Edtech sector in Southeast Asia is rapidly adopting cloud technology to make quality education accessible and attractive. “AWS, Managing Director of ASEAN's Commercial Division, Gunish Chawla, AWS, said:
Beyond content creation, Firstlight's AWS-based infrastructure supports an intuitive dashboard for tracking student progress and monitoring classroom performance. This allows institutions to analyze engagement and responses in real time, identify gaps in learning, and actively address difficulties, thereby enabling educators to improve student outcomes with customized solutions.
