According to the club's chief executive, Cambridge United FC can save “serious time and money” by using AI to manage players' contracts.
U considers it to be the first club to use AI to draft and review contracts for players and other employees.
They are partnering with Cambridge-based Ginny AI to plan to sign several new players prior to the September 1 transfer deadline to reduce legal costs and conversion times.
The club said that AI influenced contractual decisions and was used elsewhere for performance analysis, but not for direct contract management tasks.
“There's been a growing conversation about AI across Cambridge, football and the legitimate world,” said Alex Tunbridge, the club's chief executive.
“We are on the forefront by partnering with homemade innovators like Genie AI.
“If we can maintain the same legal quality while saving serious time and money, that's exactly a sensible decision that allows us to reinvest in our players, facilities and match-day experience communities.”
