Rod Stewart faces criticism after Ozzy Osbourne, who takes a selfie with another dead musician, portrayed an artificial intelligence tribute video that was shown at his concert on Friday.
Stewart was playing “Forever Young” at the Ameris Bank Amphitheater in Alpharetta, Georgia.
In this video, Osborne was featured in holding a selfie stick in what looked like heaven, standing beside a variety of other late artists. Shows Xxxtentacion, Prince, Tina Turner, Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, and Freddie Mercury.
The clip has been distributed online and has attracted criticism from many people.
“'Why is this rude?” I'm going to use AI to make a break for your dead grandma in heaven with Princess Diana and put it on a huge screen as part of a tour people paid to watch. I'm going to do that without your knowledge or permission.”
Some commenters suggested that AI use is age-related. Stewart is 80 years old.
“Boomers love AI,” the commenter wrote. “I know people like 65 are crying filming this on the other side of the venue.”
Some fans commented on Stewart's social media post and expressed support for the tribute video.
“I love your concert compliments,” fans wrote in one of Stewart's Instagram posts.
Another commenter who said they were at the concert gave a tribute, “classy and sincere.”
“I was impressed by the show and the whole homage,” the commenter wrote.
Representatives for Stewart and Osborne did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Stewart shared an Instagram post commemorating Osborne on the day his death was announced.
