There have been various warnings from technology leaders that AI will lead to widespread unemployment and perhaps even to maintain the economy as we know it, but there has been no much evidence to suggest that such a massive action has been happening.

New report by CBS News It now reveals that adoption of generative AI has already led to thousands of job cuts in the US.
The publication said AI led to over 10,000 job cuts in the US in July while citing a report released by Challenger, Gray and Christmas.
It noted that since 2023, there have been more than 27,000 job cuts that can be directly linked to the advent of artificial intelligence.
Who is the most affected by AI? The report states that the impact of AI on employment is most noticeable among younger workers, with entry-level corporate roles available, with university graduates declining by more than 15% over the past year. Meanwhile, over the past two years, employees have increased by 400% using “AI” to describe their jobs.
“The industry is shaped by advances in artificial intelligence and the continued uncertainty surrounding work visas that are contributing to reducing the workforce,” said Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
Many previous reports suggest that white-collar jobs are at the highest risk of being eliminated by AI.
