At the Abhay Tripathi memorial lecture held at the United Services Agency in India on July 21, the Central Government's Electronics and Information Technology Secretary S Krishnan discussed the possibility of AI to enhance governance, the Hindus reported.
In his lecture, Krishnan highlighted the country's commitment to ethical and scalable AI development, and highlighted India's journey in developing its mission with responsible AI and future.

“We are currently using AI in our centralized complaint relief and surveillance system (CPGRAMS), so complaints are being addressed 25% faster on average,” Krishnan said.
Krishnan added that AI will also help assess credit scores and distribute loans. “Formal loans remain very low in India,” he said.
“Large companies can get funding at 8-9%, while low or remote companies are more expensive due to the high management costs and risk required. Data from GST and other sources that can confirm creditworthiness can help you access your debt,” Krishnan added.
According to the report, Krishnan said India is less susceptible to unemployment concerns related to increased production AI. He explained that India's white-collar jobs are significantly lower than in other countries.
“So, since generative AI is not as serious as elsewhere in India, the risk of these jobs is gone, which is one of the reasons why we aren't afraid of AI as much as other countries.”
Krishnan mentioned three important AI summits: The first deals with safety at Bletchley Park in the UK, with the second being Seoul and the third being focused on AI innovation in Paris. The next summit will be held in Delhi, focusing on the effectiveness of AI.
“This is a space where I think the embrace of innovation is more important, especially in the Indian context, in terms of improving governance in India and using it as an opportunity for the economy to lead to the next generation,” he added.
