Following the trend in AI startup acquisitions, Meta has strengthened its portfolio by acquiring voice startup PlayAI, according to a Bloomberg report. The company did not disclose specific details of the contract.
An internal memo informed the PlayAI team the following week that they would join the Meta team as part of the acquisition agreement. According to the report, the memo reportedly states that Playai's “platform for creating natural voices and simple voice creation is perfect for work and roadmap in creating AI characters, meta AI, wearables and audio content.”
Meta says the startup's natural audio creation expertise is consistent with Meta's goals in creating AI characters, meta, wearables and audio content.
This acquisition not only adds these companies to Meta's portfolio, but also brings talent. This strategy includes investments in infrastructure such as Data Center to keep up with other major players such as Openai, Google, and humanity.
As part of AI's ambitious plan, META has acquired 49% of Scale AI, a company that provides tools and services for data annotation, model evaluation, and synthetic data generation, particularly in industries such as autonomous vehicles, defense and e-commerce.
META CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that it will reorganize its AI division, rename Superintelligence Labs, and recruit highly qualified professionals in compensation packages. He scaled AI CEO Alexandr Wang and joined the team as a leader.
According to a Verge report, Meta employs 10 top Openai researchers and model developers, earning up to $300 million over four years. However, other AI Giants employees are also approached with offers.
