RABAT – Moroccan ministries, international organizations and academic partners signed a group of memorandums of understanding on Wednesday to promote the use of artificial intelligence not only efficiently but ethically.
One of the major contracts includes contracts between the Ministry of Digital Transition and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
Digital Transition Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and president of UM6P Hicham El Habti have launched a strategic partnership in the field of data centers.
The agreement seeks to boost cooperation between the ministry and schools in research, innovation, training, sustainability and digital sovereignty.
Both the ministry and UM6P are working to build national capacity in sustainable data governance.
The agreement was signed bystanders of the First National Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Seghrouchni also signed a contract with National Minister of Education Mohamed Saad Berrada to integrate digital technology into the school's curriculum, develop tailored digital educational content, improve digital skills for both teachers and students, and promote innovation in education and sports institutions.
Additionally, the Minister of Digital Transition has signed a contract with the chairman of the Agricol du Maroc Committee of Mohamed Ficrat's Credit Committee, focusing on digital inclusion programs that deploy digital and physical access points for e-services, supporting the digitalization of agricultural micro-enterprises and rural innovation.
Minister Seguruschni and Minister of Economic Inclusion Younes Sekkouri have signed an agreement to support employment integration through AI solutions and develop a labor market analysis platform, helping to help transition careers and support microentelprize.
Several partnerships have also been signed, including an agreement between the Ministry of Digital Transition and the United Nations Development Programme.
Morocco has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to support AI cooperation at various levels.
In March, Morocco launched a national programme to introduce children to digital technology, particularly AI.
The deal is part of Morocco Digital 2030, launched by the North African country to establish a robust digital ecosystem.
