Comptia's annual Cyberstats Workforce Report was published on Monday. In addition to a wealth of juicy job data, there is evidence that when it comes to finding jobs, dedicated AI pros don't get much more foundation than the average skilled prompter.
Job openings for people with AI skills reached an all-time high last month, the training and accredited company said about 125,000 open jobs in the technology sector referring to the needs. According to Comptia, these user-level skills could be involved with anything from marketers using CHATGPT to help develop new languages, or from web developers who can help generate or debug code using just a little bit of AI.

“For almost every digital or knowledge worker, AI can be considered as another tool in the workplace tool belt,” the report states.
Truly dedicated AI professionals – engineers, model builders, architects and other deep technical types – certainly care about you and are sometimes sought after with a grand salary. Comptia points out that employment for dedicated AI titles rose 75% year-on-year. But that's already 75% of the few.
“This employment usually occurs between large companies and accounts for a relatively small share of overall technology adoption,” Comptia said.
In short, there's no reason to go to the expertise route of software engineers and LLM, as AI jobs can summarise “make a mockup of a marketing campaign” to me and “create a mockup of a marketing campaign that couldn't do human” expertise space. You know – “Can you use a copilot?” It's not “Make me a new copilot.”
Comptia didn't clarify what a particular AI product business is looking for expertise, but the trend is clear. AI skills are not a new “learning code.” They are the next iteration of “become proficient in MS Word.”
What else has happened with Hi-Tech Jobs over the past year?
Comptia's annual review of technology employment did not only discover how application of AI skills is shaking.

Employment in technology companies includes non-technical people working in technology and people with direct technical positions.
Nettech employment could increase this year after a few years of decline following the surge in employment in 2022, according to Comptia's forecast.
It is unclear whether AI has influenced that ratio, but it may be part of the reason why Comptia predicts Tech's workforce will grow twice as fast as the overall US workforce over the next decade.
Of course, not all of these future roles serve AI. Many people are involved in protection systems.
High-tech occupations are projected to grow at about twice the rate of employment across the US over the next decade. According to Comptia, data science and analytics are at the top of the list, followed by cybersecurity analytics and engineering. Software development and engineering, software QA and testing, and web/UI/UX design concludes our predictions as the demand for such jobs grows, which courses should be taken. ®
