The trends in AI and ML learning courses have discovered a strong foothold among women's engineering students, indicating interest in careers in artificial intelligence and machine learning, research reveals. BYTEXL AI and Engineering Jobs Report 2025 are attracting attention for this growth trend.
Based on behavioral data from over 100,000 students, the report highlights changes in the way young Indians, particularly women, prepare for the future of their work.
Of the total students analyzed, 38,000 were women.
“AI and ML are changing the way industries make decisions and operate. This constant change has drawn me to this field,” said a female engineering student at Pal University in Vadodara.
Small town student female engineer leads career choices in AI/ML
Interestingly, Tier 3 college students are often based in small towns – showed stronger clarity about career direction than their peers at larger institutions.
Tier 1 cities in the report included Hyderabad and Pune, while cities such as Vijayawada, Nagpur and Dehradun were listed in Tier 2.

40% of female students reached the final stage of career track selection, compared to 35% of male students.

A considerable number of female students who chose career tracks chose artificial intelligence and machine learning.

49% of students at Tier 3 institutions identified a more clear career path than Tier 1 (33%) and Tier 2 (35%).

53.9% of tier 3 students chose AI/mL, compared to 37.9% from tier 2 and only 16% from tier 1 colleges.
A student at Malineni Lakshmaiah Women's Engineering College at Guntur said, “AI helps solve real-world problems. I want to be part of this change.”
This report gives us a glimpse into the changing India. India is a small town youth, especially women, who step into a fast-moving sector with clear and ambition. With AI and ML at the heart of future industries, this new wave of talent could shape how the country adapts to the digital age.
