Canva taps the powerful AI video tool GoogleVeo3 – this is what you can do with it

AI Video & Visuals

Photo-Editing Platform Canva extends AI tools to include the ability to create video clips using text prompts. The new text-tool called Create a Video Clip is powered by the Google Veo 3 AI model, which was announced at I/O earlier this year. VEO 3 allows you to create new video clips for Canva to create cinematic videos along with native audio.

“This marks an exciting new chapter in our AI journey, making high-fidelity video creation even more intuitive and allows anyone to create content that is engaging with brands and trends,” Canva said.

Based on Canva where Canva generates clips using the VEO 3 AI model, you simply go to Creating a Video Clip Section for Canva and provide a text prompt. According to the company, the tool can “seamlessly” turn your vision into an 8-second clip. The 8-second clip is suitable for product teasers, pitch deck openers, or social media posts for platforms like Instagram.

Google's VEO 3 AI model says it creates “dynamic and refined videos with high quality visuals, realistic movements and synchronous audio.” Once the video is generated and selected, you can open it in Canva's native video editor and fine tune it through tools such as brand kits, music, text, and more. You can also copy videos to other design formats, such as social media posts and presentations, to diversify a single concept of different platforms.

Creating video clips is only available to PRO, teams, and paid subscribers of Enterprise Plans. However, Canva non-profit users also have access to the tool. Canva limits the AI video generation to 5 per month, but CAP will increase in the future. People on the Leonardo.ai platform can also create video clips via paid plans.
