In an online landscape where AI is everywhere, including dating apps, it's not shocking that some singles use AI to meet their partners.
Match's latest singles in America research shows that just a quarter of singles and 26% of singles use artificial intelligence to improve dating lives. This has increased by a whopping 333% since 2024.
Most Gen Z will marry AI, according to research.
Match and the Kinsey Institute surveyed about 5,000 US singles between the ages of 18 and 98. According to the report, almost half of Z Single Generals use AI in their dating life, either improving their profile and message creation, screening compatibility. Of all singles, 44% say that AI prefers to support filter matches, and 40% helps create the perfect dating profile.

Meanwhile, 44% believe that it is Dealbreaker that uses AI to change photos, while 36% believe that it is Dealbreaker that uses AI to generate conversations. Some of the Daters that Mashable spoke to earlier this year believes that AI should not be used at all for dating as it is dishonest, but other data sees it as another tool for trading.
“AI doesn't replace intimacy, it gives singles an edge,” said Dr. Amanda Gesselman, a psychologist at Kinsey, in a press release, Dr. Amanda Gesselman, director of Sex and Relations Sietiens. “For a generation overwhelmed by options, tools that bring clarity and efficiency are welcome.”

Gesselman says AI is not going to replace intimacy, but Match found that 16% of singles are involved with AI as romantic companions. This will skyrocket to 33% for Gen Z and 23% for millennials. Another non-match survey in April found that eight in 10 Gen Z members would marry AI. Experts told Mashable that it makes sense given that young people are digital natives, but that makes sense given the risks involved. Some researchers say that AI peers are dangerous to minors.
The single seems to lean on both technology and romance. Seven in 10 respondents say they believe in fate when it comes to relationships, and 73% of singles believe in eternal love. Love at first sight beliefs increased from 34% in 2014 to 60%.
But people may not actually watch this play. 39% of singles say no one knows in their lives, representing “relationship goals.” People are looking for social media for modern love ideas.
“Reality TV and Instagram have made me feel more love than a live experience,” says Gesselman. “The pressure to find the perfect picture can be paralyzed.”
Reality TV, Instagram, and AI. 45% of survey respondents make their AI partners feel more understood, and active data could be three times higher than inactive dating that rely on AI for dating. And 40% say that having an AI boyfriend or girlfriend is cheating.
But if the AI ”understands” them, does dating want human companions? You may have to wait for the 2026 survey to find out.
