A new business artificial intelligence miner will be released in autumn 2025
Wright State students will be able to broaden their skills in one of the fastest evolving areas in the business world. Starting the Fall 2025 semester, Raj Soin College of Business will offer Business Artificial Intelligence (AI) miners.
Minors were established to equip students with basic knowledge and practical skills of AI to apply to business contexts. The program covers AI fundamentals, data analysis and machine learning techniques, focusing on applications that solve real business challenges.
“The demand for professionals with expertise in AI and data analytics is growing in all industries. Businesses leverage AI to increase efficiency, improve customer experience and gain competitiveness.” “By completing this minor, students will develop unique and highly popular skillsets and place them for better career opportunities in the evolving job market.”
The development of AI minors was influenced by feedback from university industry partners. Input from Management Information Systems Corporate Advisory Board played a key role in designing a curriculum that matches industry needs.
Although AI is not expected to replace all jobs, graduates without AI knowledge or skills will face growing challenges in the workforce over the next five to ten years.
“AI applications are becoming more and more widespread across the industry. Our goal is to ensure that all graduates achieve AI literacy, regardless of their major, before entering the job market,” Asamoah said. “Expanding AI education in academic fields will be an important focus for universities in the coming years.”
As the AI industry continues to grow exponentially, the launch of new business AI miners is timely. As of 2024, the global AI market is valued at approximately $29.825 billion, and is projected to grow at a combined annual growth rate of 32.9% by 2030 (Grand View Research, 2024).
“The program places Raj Soin Business College of Business and Wright State University at the forefront of AI education and ensures students are ready and ready to respond to the evolving demands of the job market,” Asamoah said.
The new academy will help students develop leadership possibilities
A group of advanced undergraduates at Wright State University recently concluded a focused year of journey to improve leadership skills through the new Ascend Leadership Academy.
The academy, hosted by Dr. Rachel Sturm, Associate Dean of the Raj Soin College of Business College, helps students develop leadership potential, career success and capabilities that will positively impact the Dayton area and beyond. Students who completed the program received their Ascend Leadership Academy certificate.
“The Academy is committed to having a significant impact on both the personal and professional lives of participants, contributing to the vibrant and dynamic future of the Dayton region,” Sturm said. “With almost 80% of Wright State alumni remain in Raider Country, Ascend Leadership Academy is designed to help students become selected career leaders in the Dayton area.”
The first cohort consisted of 31 students from a variety of fields including accounting, business management, economics, electrical engineering, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, management information systems, marketing, mechanical engineering, organizational leadership, PRE-MED research, and psychology.
“This eclectic mix highlights the Academy's commitment to developing academic skills and personality, ensuring participants are well equipped for the profession of their choice,” Sturm says.
The Academy employs a variety of learning experiences and methodologies to help students develop leadership talent, including assessment, formal instruction, panel discussions, and mentorship opportunities. Students also participate in field experiences and community service activities.
The Academy helps students better understand core beliefs and motivations, develop characters, improve emotional intelligence and interpersonal abilities, set goals, expand their worldview and community service mindset, and learn about professional opportunities in the Dayton area.
