Google has long been trying to make work easier. From inventing Gmail, which became the world's favorite email provider, to Google Drive, a collection of free productivity and organizational apps, Google has used its technology to gain a large share of professional institutions. Google has considered (and actually done) building its own versions of presentation software, spreadsheets, word processors, and more.
One of the latest forays into the professional workspace (yes, it's going to be part of Google Workspace) is Google Vids. Announced in April, the app makes it easier for companies, teams, or team members to collaborate across different projects by making it easier to share and create videos. It combines Gemini AI technology with other Google features to speed up the process of creating videos for work projects.

I added Gemini to my Chrome browser, you can too
The addition of Google's Gemini AI to the browser has brought about some efficiency changes that I never knew were necessary.
For those who have to create slide decks or slideshow presentations for work, Vids, an AI-powered video presentation software application, may be a promising tool for you. If you need help creating the latest slide decks or presentations, Vids can help. It's not available yet and there's no telling when it will be fully available. But what can you expect from Vids once it's released? Here's a list:

Google Video
Announced on April 9, 2024, Google Vids is a video creation app from Google Workspace designed for work-related videos such as trainings and updates. It is currently being tested with select Google Workspace Labs users and is expected to launch in public beta in summer 2024. The app features AI-assisted storyboarding and enables collaborative projects with a three-minute video limit.
1 Be able to create the basis for a video presentation
Use Gemini for research
Pocket Lint
Vids allows you to type into the program and come up with ideas for your presentation. Using Gemini AI's chatbot feature, you can give Vids commands for what you want to feature in your campaign, such as “help me plan a slideshow for a presentation about dog bowls.” Vids uses Gemini to branch out multiple ideas for you and your company's presentations, allowing you to click to get more information.
This is similar to how you currently use Gemini on your desktop, where you converse by asking questions through prompts. Now, rather than using this technology in Gemini's software and then applying it to a presentation creation program like Keynote or Google Slides, you can use your slide creation skills to research topics for your presentation and turn that into a video.

2 Decide on a presentation style
Choose from a wide range of templates or customize your own
Once you have set the base for your presentation, you can style it however you like. This is to make designing your presentation easier, and the templates provided by Vids can help you get started quickly and meet your deadline. Of course, you can also start from scratch and customize an existing template. However, if you would prefer to use one of the pre-made templates, that is an option. With so many options to choose from, you probably won't have to repeat your presentation style for a while.
If you want to add stock videos from Google's library to your video presentation, you can use Vids. You can also let Vids analyze the content of your video and suggest video clips that you can add to your video. What if you could choose from a library of clips instead of a library of WordArt?

There's a ton of fun things to do with Google Earth, and to be honest there are a few hidden features, but we've dug out five for you to try out.
3 Add audio to a presentation
Record your voice with Google Speak

If you want to insert a pre-recorded message into your presentation, Vids makes it easy. Record audio for your project using Google Speak technology. Transcribe it using Google's transcription technology and then add the transcript to your slides or use the audio recording as part of the experience.
You can also film a video of yourself in Vids and use that in your presentation if you like. As you record your audio or video, you can share those clips with the rest of your team to get feedback before including them in the final deck. If you don't want to use your own voice in your presentation, there are plenty of stock options to choose from, including accents to speak the words written in your presentation.

Four Edit in real time
From Google/Pocket-lint
When putting together a Vids presentation, it's important to remember that it's similar to a slideshow in that it has a timeline that progresses from one part of the presentation to the next. If you want to ask members of your team to edit or comment while you're creating the presentation, you can use the collaboration tools. In addition to leaving comments on specific parts of the video, you can also click on objects in the video to leave comments.
When they do this, their name will appear, indicating that they took notes on this specific part of the video. Similar to leaving comments on specific words in a word processor, this shows exactly what that person was actually talking about. Additionally, if a team member wants to remove part of the video during a presentation, they can do so and the presenter won't have to tell someone to “skip slide” while looking at the slides.

Five Share now
Just like any other app

Just like sharing a link to a Google Doc or inviting someone to edit a Google Spreadsheet, you can send a link to collaborate on video. It's another way to get people to comment and share their feedback. It's all a collaborative workplace tool powered by AI-powered video. It's faster to share a link to a video for others to collaborate on than it is to download an MP4 file of your presentation. Just like you can choose the level of access you want to give to users when editing a document or spreadsheet, you can give collaborators editing privileges or only allow them to watch the video.
