Experts attending a workshop on AI solutions for enterprises held at Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) on June 28 agreed that although many AI solutions have been developed by Vietnamese tech companies in various fields, only a few have been put into practical use.

Tran Phuc Hong, vice-chairman of the VNITO Alliance, said many businesses want to use AI to carry out their digital transformation, but most don't know where to start.

AI can help create breakthrough products and services, increase productivity and efficiency, and reduce production costs.

According to a report by McKinsey & Company, 1,368 companies surveyed around the world said they were applying technology in at least one department.

Meanwhile, Pham Tuan Anh of TMA Group's AI Centre said the survey found that most Vietnamese businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, are still not ready or are reluctant to adopt AI.

The challenge is in deploying capital and human resources, and data synchronization as data comes from various sources like Google Drive and Excel.

An said that whenever AI is mentioned, enterprises think of the high cost. The investment rate is too high, while enterprises are concerned that investing in AI will not bring the expected results. Enterprises want AI tools to meet many requirements, but it takes time to train AI to understand enterprise data.

Phan Thanh Quoc, deputy director of innovation programs at KPMG Vietnam, cited the report as saying AI is mainly applied in the fields of science and technology, banking, retail, marketing, healthcare and education.

In the science and technology sector, many companies want to invest in AI to increase productivity and operational efficiency.

While businesses around the world see AI and innovation as essential for sustainable development, Vietnamese businesses fear they will be replaced. Workers believe that AI could one day become a tool that replaces them. They are reluctant to use AI for fear of losing their jobs.

Edux CEO Luu The Hung noted that many people believe that the introduction of AI will cause workers to be fired, but it can help boost sales and increase income by improving productivity.
