WASHINGTON – The Army is looking for artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, helping services manage increasingly complex airspace as they prepare to implement next-generation Command and Control (NGC2) initiatives.
in a Request for information published on Wednesday The service announced it Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, Sensor (PEO IEW&s) Program Executive Office and its NGC2 Program Manager are looking for SNotable AI/ML features help reduce the “cognitive burden” on commanders in the wake of the expected dramatic influx of aviation.
“As the Army continues to integrate advanced technology and expand its use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), rotary wings, fixed wings and emerging platforms, traditional airspace management methods are being challenged by growing scale, speed and complexity,” RFI said. “AI-enabled airspace management solutions can address these challenges by leveraging machine learning, predictive analytics, and automation to increase situational awareness, optimize airspace allocation, and enable rapid decision-making.”
Details of the AI/ML capabilities the Army is looking for include real-time detection and resolution, UAS and lo ammo integration, predictive analytics, EW jamming tools, and strategies that can mitigate environmental impacts.
The information request describes two “purposes,” one short-term “Tonight” feature, a technology-based feature that is already available, and a long-term “vision” of “scalable and adaptive management.”
Interested vendors must reply to the solicitation by August 29th.
Also, the Army, which is part of the solicitation, is looking for vendors to provide minimal viable products (MVPs) for the autumn joint Pacific Multinational Preparation Center movement with the 25th Infantry Division of the service. Industry partners considering participating must be ready to deploy MVPs by November this year.
The participation of the 25th ID in NGC2 was made after the fourth ID in Colorado was designated as the main experimental unit for NGC2.
