Sundar Pichai will unlock free access to Google's AI video creation platform, Veo 3, until Sunday. Create stunning videos with AI
This weekend, Google is inviting users to intervene in the filmmaker's role with free access to Veo 3, an advanced AI-driven video creation platform. The announcement came directly from CEO Sundar Pichai. SundarPichai encouraged everyone to experiment with the creative possibilities of the tool without facing the usual subscription fees.
The move forms part of Google's broader strategy that encourages more users to explore the most ambitious media tools ever. Typically, VEO 3 is only available through the AI Pro subscription to the Gemini app, which costs £1,999 per month in India. New subscribers will typically enjoy a one-month free trial, but this is the first opportunity for Google to have access to the platform, regardless of subscription status.
Pichai shared a post from Google on X (formerly Twitter) and added, “Veo 3 can be tried for free on weekends. I can't wait to see what I'm creating!”
Google posted: “I'll slide over the weekend with VEO 3 on @geminiapp with 3 video generations, but act fast. Mark and set it up until Sunday at 8pm!!”
The free trial is available until 10:30am on Sunday, August 24th. To access the free version, simply sign up through Gemini, select the “Video with Veo” option, explain your ideas, and you're ready to go.

VEO 3, introduced in Google I/O 2025, has already generated global interest. This represents Google's most sophisticated video model so far, and can also generate synchronous audio, including visuals, dialogue, background music, footsteps, and ambient sounds.
Sold as a versatile creative toolkit, the VEO 3 is perfect for creating animated shorts, movie sequences, storyboards, or game cutscenes. Currently, the platform responds to text-based prompts and offers support for image-based prompts where future plans are planned, further increasing flexibility.
