SureCore has leveraged its low-power design capabilities to create a new range of ultra-low voltage SRAM solutions called PowerMiser™ Plus, capable of operating down to 0.45V, enabling customers to create market-leading low-power products. Did.
Since both logic and memory can be connected at the same voltage, both can be adjusted at the same time to increase or decrease performance, and power consumption can be adjusted at the same time as required by the application.
PowerMiser Plus has been licensed to two customers in the edge AI space amid growing interest in SureCore’s low-power memory solutions. For one customer, sureCore ported his PowerMiser Plus architecture to his flagship 12nm process that interfaces to logic running at 0.45V, and at worst he delivered 400MHz performance. The SoC had an on-chip LDO that generated both the logic power supply and his 0.65V power supply for the SRAM storage array. This ensured that the two power supplies would track each other within a predefined margin when a system level shift in operating voltage was made to meet the required performance targets. This meant that the use of power-hungry level shifters in the SRAM was avoided, thereby further optimizing power consumption.
For another edge AI customer, the PowerMiser Plus architecture has been optimized to provide an ultra-low voltage, single-port solution that takes advantage of the low voltage profile of foundry high current bit cells. While operating at a nominal 0.6V and providing a worst case of 400MHz, the memory is characterized to operate at 0.5V, significantly extending battery life.
SureCore Founder and CEO Paul Wells explains: By doing so, the significant power consumption of embedded SRAM cannot be ignored. This is especially true in the edge AI space where pattern matching requires a large amount of his SRAM. The key to achieving the required power savings is moving applications to lower operating voltages. This is of course fine for logic and still allows relatively high performance. Memory is a whole other issue and requires very special attention. Market-leading, patented power-saving technology and low-voltage expertise enable the PowerMiser Plus architecture. This allows us to deliver the low voltage solutions our customers need and help them meet their challenging power goals. ”
