WASHINGTON: India has emerged as one of the top three markets in Microsoft’s new Bing preview, which incorporates ChatGPT and is the largest market for image creators, said a senior company executive, while search engines outperform Microsoft. also claimed to be much better. rival google. Powered by ChatGPT, Microsoft launched a new Bing preview on his February 7th. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI and launched in November 2022.
“Search has changed and will continue to change. It’s not going away. Radio hasn’t gone away like it did when TV came out, but TV has become more exciting. Same thing here.” New Capabilities for AI in Answer Chat Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president and chief consumer marketing officer at Microsoft, told PTI:
Microsoft, under its Indian-American CEO Satya Nadella, has a vision for the world to move from being a search engine to what is considered the “co-pilot” of the web. It does four things: search better, answer questions, chat, and create content.
“We now have over 100 million daily activities on Bing. We are in 169 countries, and India is one of the top three markets in this new Bing preview. It’s the top image creator market based on numbers. It’s very convenient to use this feature,” said Mehdi.
“So, out of all the countries in the world, India is at the top. Along with some of these visual features, one of the things we announced last week is Knowledge Cards, which will give you a richer view of your search. We’ve seen Bollywood actor Kiara Advani being the top search on the knowledge card and other actors being rounded up in the Indian market, and we’ve seen great engagement there[in India].” he said.
In response to questions, he said the Indian market is very active and people in India are using many of the new features that Microsoft recently announced.
The new Bing has received very positive feedback from users, he said.
“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive because people are liking the chat and search features as a new way to search, not just for answers. It shows the difference between us and Google, so that’s important is,” he said.
“Google is trying to say that chat has nothing to do with search and is a separate product. We think of them as one integrated product…just We don’t just search,” he said.
According to Mehdi, people want to enjoy social entertainment and want to be able to converse with AI chatbots.
“It can be very creative, but because there are still areas where we can do a better job. I do more work there.
Some, such as Knowledge Cards and Stories, are unique to Bing and not Google.
“When you search, you can now give a richer answer about what it looks like. For example, you can give five images of what you’re looking for. So if you’re searching For example, Kara Advani, you can introduce an actor, show different images in a knowledge card, and provide a lot of information,” he said.
“So, we are automating certain answers to the top searches for the Indian market, such as actors and movie stars, top news stories in India, top travel sites in India, etc. We create a lot of special cards for India.” said.
Observing that search is still a magical tool, Mehdi said it has evolved and is also being used to plan and retrieve answers to complex questions.
Powered by new AI, Bing can answer complex questions that regular searches can’t, he said.
“One of the things we’ve made progress with Bing is that we’re now able to answer these questions. We use ChatGPT to help improve it, so many of the questions Google can’t answer…AI to help answer the question,” he said.
So far, he said, Google has taken a different approach.
“They have a very separate chat product called Bard that is different from Google Search. They haven’t done any AI work on Google Search. We have a much better product for people, and we think that’s the future of combining search, chat and creation, so our vision is very different from theirs,” Mehdi said. said Mr.
He said the latest developments will also affect the news industry.
“The way the news industry has worked with search today is that it’s a very delicate balance…because you’re doing good journalism, like you are, and someone is breaking the news.” To search, let’s say something happened in Israel, and then it’s a piece of information and you click on it to go to the story,” he said.
“With AI and chat, we can get even clearer answers, but not necessarily articles or good reports. It’s that we now provide links to promote a lot of content, which increases traffic to people.
“I think what we’re doing with Bing will drive more traffic to news agencies and new publishers. But it’s going to change the advertising model. More relevant, higher. There are fewer ads that bring in revenue,” says Mehdi.
