Cloudera Uses AI to Accelerate Data and Analytics Development

AI For Business

Cloudera has announced the introduction of three new AI-driven assistants aimed at accelerating the development of data, analytics and AI business applications.

A recent survey revealed that 84% of companies in Asia Pacific have integrated AI technologies into their processes to achieve measurable business benefits.

The newly released AI Assistant is designed to help businesses speed up the creation of trusted data, analytics and AI applications while expanding the reach of employees who can use these tools, helping to accelerate AI initiatives across the enterprise and giving more users access to data-driven insights in their daily work.

Vini Cardoso, Chief Technology Officer, Cloudera ANZ, highlighted the increasing use of AI by Australian organisations to drive business innovation and improve efficiency. He said, “Australian organisations are adopting AI as a catalyst to drive business innovation and improve efficiency. However, despite AI being revolutionary, establishing trust in it remains a barrier to entry for many business leaders.”

“Recognizing this, we have applied our decade of AI experience and capabilities directly to creating this developer toolbox, which not only gives businesses an 'easy button' to get started using AI assistant technology in their AI application development efforts, but also gives them confidence in the tools, mitigating risk and ensuring secure AI systems.”

New products include SQL AI Assistant, an AI chatbot for Cloudera Data Visualisation, and Cloudera Copilot for Cloudera Machine Learning. SQL AI Assistant aims to simplify the complexities involved in writing complex SQL queries. Users can describe their data needs in plain language, and the Assistant will use advanced techniques such as prompt engineering and search augmentation generation (RAG) to find relevant data and write, optimise and explain the query in plain language.

The AI chatbot within Cloudera Data Visualisation is designed to interact directly with enterprise data to provide contextualised business insights beyond typical BI dashboards. By residing within Cloudera dashboards and reports, the chatbot uses the context of the available data to provide more actionable insights for the enterprise. Users can ask questions in plain language and the chatbot will intelligently match it to relevant data and visualisations.

Cloudera Copilot for Cloudera Machine Learning includes large-scale pre-trained language models and is built to solve common challenges in deploying AI and ML models in production.

Copilot is integrated with Hugging Face's 130+ models and datasets to support the end-to-end development process for AI applications, facilitating data science, model development and fine-tuning to accelerate machine learning development and business value realization.

According to Andrew Brust of Blue Badge Insights, recent advances highlight the potential and growing pains that companies face in leveraging AI for business applications.

“The AI and ML technology gold rush has opened up endless possibilities for enterprises, but there are still significant growing pains across the industry when it comes to deriving valuable insights from AI. For organizations to make the most of this new frontier, they need to effectively leverage AI for their business applications. Cloudera excels here, especially as it continues to infuse AI across its platform,” he said.

Earlier this month, Cloudera expanded its AI and ML capabilities with the acquisition of Verta's Operational AI Platform, further strengthening the company's AI and ML leadership by building AI assistants for SQL, BI and ML directly into the platform.

Dipto Chakravarty, chief product officer at Cloudera, added: “As AI advances, Cloudera is committed to staying ahead of our customers' needs.”

“Our new AI-powered assistant removes barriers, enabling all users to harness the power of AI across their organizations.”
